Course in Tumor Biology

We are happy to announce that we once again offer our PhD course in "Tumor Biology" in January 2012.

Aim and content: The course in Tumor Biology provides a broad coverage of the molecular and cellular mechanisms involved in carcinogenesis, cancer progression and cancer treatment. The course has a close connection with cancer research and complements the course in Clinical Oncology. On a research-based background, this two-weeks course addresses several aspects of the widely accepted “hallmarks” of cancer, mostly covered by active researchers in the field. In addition, various research strategies and technical issues will be presented, along with examples from active research projects. Finally, emphasis will be given to the connection between molecular cancer research and novel developments within targeted cancer therapy and personalized medicine.

Participants: The course is limited to 20 students.

Language: English.

Form: The course will consist of classroom lectures - open discussions are encouraged - and journal clubs.

ECTS-credits: 8,5

Course director: Niels Behrendt

Teachers: All lecturers at the course are active scientists in basic and/or translational research within the topic of their lectures

Dates: 23 January - 3 February 2012, from 8.15 to approx. 15.00.
